Bright Stars 2015 – Guest Speaker: Mikail Huggins
The guest speaker at the 2015 Bright Stars Award ceremony was Paralympic and Commonwealth guide runner, Mikail Huggins. Mikail is a guide for 25 year old athlete Libby Clegg who has a very rare condition called Stargardt disease. She has no central vision and only peripheral sight in her left eye, so can only see things at the side. Mikail runs alongside Libby connected by a wrist band.
Important Notice Regarding The Green Bus – Cashless System
The Green Bus has notified us that their West Midlands buses will be going entirely cashless during July 2015 by introducing the new smartcard offered by Centro. Students will need to apply for a Swift Card online and every ticket will now show a message asking customers to go to the Swift Card website www.myswiftcard.com.
Q3 Birds Fly The Nest!
On Wednesday 3rd June, the day arrived when our Blue Tit chicks flew the nest. We noticed that the bird box was looking a little empty compared to its usual busy hive of activity. On the off-chance that they’d be leaving soon, Mr Garfield had brought his camera in, just in case, to capture the moment when the birds flew the nest.

Parent Portal Launch
Q3 Academy is preparing to launch a facility to allow the main parent/carer contact for a child to be able to access the information which we hold in our student data system on an internet-enabled device, which we are calling Parent Portal.
Students Take on Challenge to Design New School for Children in Uganda
Q3 students are to take part in a charity competition to design a school for children in Northern Uganda. A team of budding architects will be put together to help design and plan a potential new building using natural resources from the surrounding Parabongo area.
Q3’s Newest Arrivals – Update
A few weeks ago we reported the arrival of our latest arrivals at the Academy, a family of Blue Tits in our specially designed birdbox. Since then, 7 out of 9 eggs have hatched and we’ve been lucky enough to watch them grow rapidly over the last few weeks or so.
