The Academy will be right at the heart of the community, providing a happy, safe and democratic environment, where staff and students are treated with dignity and respect.
We are committed to providing our personalised curriculum, creating the flexibility to match all our student’s abilities, learning speeds and needs. Our curriculum is designed around ‘stage’ not ‘age’, which means that when a student is ready to complete one key stage they will be assessed and not just when they reach a certain age.
Our vision for learning is based around the whole child, ensuring no child is left behind. Students will experience a unique Kickstart programme, which is designed to engage student’s interest and enjoyment, ensuring the start and end of the day is as enjoyable as the lessons in the middle.
Through our specialism of Design and Enterprise students will be able to make their own decisions about curriculum pathways. All staff will be committed to nurturing self-esteem, with a focus on individual success and achievement at all levels.
This is such an important factor in developing a keeness to learn that students will carry throughout their lives.The Academy will offer a powerful and inclusive and attractive curriculum that will fire the imagination and energy of the whole community.
Students will experience new techniques in learning and teaching, including cooperative learning (Kagan learning) and learning to learn to enable progress at all levels. Literacy and Numeracy intervention is a priority to ensure all students can access the curriculum and progress to their chosen careers. New technologies will make anytime, anywhere learning a reality for Q3 students and staff.
The development of a brand new Virtual Learning Environment will ensure students can access learning 24 hours a day, helping every student to develop an e-portfolio.
