COVID-19 Vaccinations

We recently shared information regarding the booking process of COVID-19 vaccinations for students aged 16+ which you can find here. A single dose of the COVID-19 vaccination is also being offered to students aged 12-15 in the Academy. We have not yet received the date of the vaccination from Public Health, but are sharing the relevant information for you and your child to make an informed choice surrounding consent.

Summer Qlub – Year 6 Students joining us in September 2021

We are excited to announce the launch of a Summer Qlub, this is an optional activity for the new students who will be joining us in September. This activity is funded by the Academy and Department for Education. Summer Qlub is not part of our normal transition process for students, it is not compulsory nor is there the capacity for everyone to attend unfortunately. We’re offering this opportunity this year as a result of the impact of COVID-19 on some families. Think of it as a Summer Club that you might get at a leisure centre, only we’ll use the opportunity to get children accustomed to the Academy, our way of working, and support with literacy and numeracy. If your child is unable to attend because you have holidays booked or other plans, that’s no problem at all, and we hope that you enjoy whatever you’re doing; your child will not be disadvantaged by not attending. The dates of Summer Qlub are: Monday 2nd to Friday 6th August 2021; or, Monday 9th to Friday 13th August 2021. Children may only attend one of the two weeks, and there is limited availability, so places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. As the Academy receives government funding towards activities on a day-by-day attendance basis, if you sign your child up for Summer Qlub and they then fail to attend part or all of the sessions, you will be charged the cost of all activities and meals missed. COVID-19 Update

We have been advised that one of our Year 10 students has tested positive for COVID-19. As a result we have asked a number of students to self-isolate as a precaution. You will have already been contacted by the Academy if your child is affected. The Academy will remain open for other students, and providing your child remains well they may attend as normal unless directed otherwise. Students working from home may access their home learning here.

Return of CCF Training

We are pleased to announce that CCF Cadet Training will resume on a two week rotation by Year Group. Year 10 and Sixth Form will resume fortnightly from Wednesday 21st April, and Year 9 from Wednesday 28th April. All cadets should wear green cadet uniform to attend the Academy.

National Tutoring Programme

Overview We have the fantastic opportunity for some of our students to receive small group tutoring from a subject specialist in core subjects. These sessions will take place by video call on a dedicated tutoring platform, they’re in the evenings, and in addition to their lessons at the Academy. They’re a great way to boost students’ confidence and improve knowledge, and come highly recommended by previous students who have found the sessions beneficial. The times and days of the sessions will be dependent on the availability of the tutor, and be confirmed on allocation. Sign-Up The sign-up for the National Tutoring Programme closed on Friday 7th May. If you have already applied then you will receive more information in due course once a tutor has been allocated. Information, User Guide, Privacy Notice, and Right to Withdraw The National Tutoring Programme is in place to support selected students and is paid for fully by the Academy and through government subsidy meaning that there is absolutely no cost to parents/carers. The Tutors used in the programme liaise with Academy teaching staff to ensure that the content is tailored specifically to the needs of students to help them reach their full academic potential. The Programme is delivered through government selected, trusted organisations, and students can access the tutoring programme at their allocated time through an online platform. They will be sent details on how to log in to this platform to their Academy email address ahead of their first session along with details...
