Year 11 GCSE Results

Dear Year 11 Students,

On the morning of Thursday 20th August 2020, we will email you with:

  • your GCSE results; and
  • guidance about your next steps and the post-results support available from us.

Please check that you can sign in to your Q3 Academy Great Barr email account, which you can access here. If you have any technical difficulties, please contact us here. It’s essential to make sure everything is working beforehand.

For the safety of all students and staff, we will not be running a face-to-face collection event. While we normally enjoy sharing in students’ enjoyment and celebration on Results Day, unfortunately it is not possible to do this for hundreds of students in a socially distant and responsible way. We did consider staggering collection times throughout the day, but felt it would be unfair for some students to receive their results hours before others. There would also have been a residual risk of large groups assembling by the Academy gates. On balance, sending results by email is the safest and fairest approach.

We remain fully committed to providing you with personalised advice and support on Results Day if you need it. We’ll answer lots of Frequently Asked Questions in the email, and also make it easy for you to get in contact if you need guidance or would like to raise any issues. We’ll have senior staff available to help you over the phone or arrange a face-to-face meeting if needed. The government has stated that there is no process of appeal for the grades you are awarded (unless you have evidence of discrimination or believe there has been an administrative error), but you will have the opportunity to sit exams in the autumn if you choose to do so. We’ll support you in making decisions about this, and we’ll also check in with you about your sixth form, college, or apprenticeship place for September.

We look forward to seeing many of you when you join Q3 Academy Great Barr Sixth Form.

Best wishes,

Mr J Gurung

Director of Key Stage 4
