COVID-19 Vaccinations

We’re really pleased to see such high demand for the COVID-19 vaccinations, and appreciate your support in helping to keep the Academy community safe.

Today is the deadline for completion of the eConsent form here, if you’d like your child (aged 12-15) to be vaccinated in the Academy on Friday 19th November.

Children aged 12 and over can now receive the vaccination at a national vaccination centre, so if you miss the consent deadline for vaccination in the Academy, or would prefer for your child to be vaccinated at another site then you can book this through the NHS booking system here or by calling 119.(Read more…)

COVID-19 Vaccinations

We are pleased to confirm that COVID-19 Vaccinations will be administered at the Academy on Friday 19th November for students aged 12 years and over and for whom parental consent has been obtained using the eConsent form.

If you have not provided consent for your child, but wish to do so now, the eConsent form is available here and must be completed by Tuesday 16th November at the latest.

If you have previously consented for your child, but now wish to withdraw consent then please contact Vaccination UK using the details on the eConsent form; the Academy cannot manage consent on your behalf. If you previously provided consent, but your child has received the vaccine since then, you do not need to do anything as this will be identified by the vaccination team.

We appreciate that students in Year 11 have mock examinations at this time. Therefore, the vaccination can be offered between examinations, or an appointment can be made for the vaccination at a more convenient time at a vaccination centre here. Please note that students under 16 years of age must have a parent with them if attending a vaccination centre.

Vaccinations will be carried out by the NHS Immunisation Team. If you have any questions, please use the contact details for Vaccination UK on the bottom of the eConsent form. Please do not contact the Academy, as we are simply a venue in this process, our staff will be unable to answer your questions.

The government have produced information for parents and carers which you can find here, and information for students which you can read with your child here.

By consenting to the vaccine, you will be helping to play your part in reducing the risk of COVID-19 spreading.

Immunisations

We have been notified by Vaccination UK that owing to the high uptake of the flu immunisation, not all students were able to be seen today. Therefore, they will return to the Academy on Thursday 6th January to administer the immunisation to the remaining students. If you have any questions about this or any of the immunisation programmes, please contact Vaccination UK directly here. (Read more…)

KS3 Groups

We look forward to welcoming students back to the Academy, and hope that they’ve had a well-deserved, restful break. As you’ll be aware, we follow a mixed-middle approach rather than using ability sets at KS3. This means that students are instead grouped with peers who have similar strengths and areas for development, allowing our staff to better tailor learning to each child’s needs. (Read more…)
