The Academy has been made aware that part of the local sewer system has collapsed, and as such our toilets cannot be drained. This means that we are unfortunately unable to open safely to all students. We have very limited toilet access by means of Grace Payne Inspiration Centre, so only students in Years 11 and 13 may attend the Academy, and only for the duration of their scheduled formal assessments; they should only attend if they have a scheduled assessment on their exam timetable, and return home once completed.(Read more…)

We have been made aware that major roadworks will begin on Scott Bridge on Newton Road from Monday 17th May, and last for 43 weeks. This may impact your journey to, and from, the Academy, so please plan your route ahead. Further details can be found here.

We’re sure you’ll have heard in the Prime Minister’s recent announcement that from Monday 17^th May face masks for students will no longer be compulsory. Students may continue to wear face masks if they wish, we appreciate that this supports some students’ health and wellbeing. All other COVID-19 safety measures will remain in place until further notice.

We have been advised that one of our Year 9 students has tested positive for COVID-19. As a result we have asked a number of students to self-isolate as a precaution. You will have already been contacted by the Academy if your child is affected.

The Academy will remain open for other students, and providing your child remains well they may attend as normal unless directed otherwise.

With the government beginning to ease the lockdown measures, I would like to reiterate important information with regards to leave of absence requests during term time. Vaccination UK Sandwell are in the process of catching up on vaccinations that were missed due to the COVID-19 closures, and resuming their scheduled service. They have requested feedback from students who have recently been vaccinated, and their parents/carers, to help monitor the quality of the service provided.(Read more…)

Following the letter sent before Easter regarding the use of mobile devices, students have been handing in their mobile devices during morning Tutor Time and having them returned during afternoon Tutor Time. I would like to start by thanking you for any encouragement with this matter and the students for their compliance. The majority of students have been following the new policy which is fantastic, and it helps us ensure the Academy remains a safe site.(Read more…)
