Q3 Assembly Themes 2011-2012
Please see our assembly themes for this current half term. The assembly themes have been arrived at following consultation with the junior executive group. As the term progresses, further consultation regarding themes will take place via company councils and academy councils.
Through words, still and moving images, sound, active participation from pupils and well chosen moments of silence and contemplation, assemblies make a unique contribution to pupils' spiritual and moral development and more generally to a positive school ethos
It is generally accepted that Assemblies should provide pupils with space for reflection and/or should be evocative and challenging
Furthermore, your assemblies should allow students the opportunity to
- Reflect on values that are of a broadly Christian nature
- Reflect on their own values and beliefs
- Develop a community spirit, ethos and shared values
- Consider spiritual and moral issues
It is important therefore that we provide some opportunity during our assemblies for students to sit quietly and reflect on what they have seen and/or heard.
There does need to be some liaison between senior staff and PLD's to ensure repetition does not take place in the delivery of a theme!
Assemblies are a vital part of the Holistic development of our staff and students and consequently require thought and planning.
