Q3's Top Tips For A Successful Transition
- Talk about the pending changes regularly with your child. Ask them what they are excited about, or indeed nervous about. Try and provide reassurance that these are natural worries that every one has in their life at significant times of change. Typical worries include coping with an increase in the amount of home work expected, or anxiety about meeting new people and making new friends.
- Look at the Q3 Web site regularly. Become involved in Academy life. This will help you all as a family to look forward to the transition.
- Attend the New Parents' Evenings on 28th April and 14th July to find out more information to help support your child at this critical time.
- Visit the West Bromwich Building Society and open your child's new account. This will feel like a special time and will help to create a Q3 identity.
- Encourage independence. Begin to build upon your child's organisational skills. Increase the amount of responsibility that your child has around the house for example. Successful learners are usually well organised.
- Purchase the necessary equipment needed to be prepared for life at Q3 (see handbook for guidance).
- Join PACT - Parents and Academy Contact Team. Find out more from existing parents. Meetings are the first Monday of each month. 6.30pm. Q3 Conference Room. New members most welcome.
