Mental Health Support for Young People and Parents/Carers

Following our previous post regarding our partnership with Reflexions to provide mental health support for young people through parents/carers, the following coffee morning workshops will be taking place at the Academy. These sessions are completely free of charge. However, we ask that you book a place by emailing Ms Kudryl here.

Updates to our Positive Behaviour Policy

We have updated our Positive Behaviour Policy and these changes will be implemented at the start of the Spring term, January 2024. Thank you to all parents and carers that responded to the behaviour consultation in the Autumn term. We also greatly appreciate those parents/carers that volunteered their time to come and discuss our proposals face to face in the Academy. Staff, students, governors, and parents/carers have been consulted regarding these changes.

Challenging and Supporting Students to Behave Better

The overwhelming majority of our students engage enthusiastically in learning and conduct themselves responsibly, respectfully, and are a credit to the Academy and their family. Ofsted praised the students’ good behaviour and our purposeful, safe learning environment.

Respectful Communication

We know that at times it can be frustrating if parents and carers cannot always talk to teachers and pastoral staff when they want to. It’s natural for parents and carers to want to resolve any issues as quickly as possible. However, our staff are usually in lessons and will not be able to respond immediately. We will of course endeavour to get back to parents and carers in a reasonable time.

Mental Health Support for Young People and Parents/Carers

The Academy work closely with a number of external agencies to provide support to our students who may be struggling with difficult emotions or metal wellbeing. One of the agencies we work with are Reflexions, a service provided through the NHS, who offer a variety of services outlined in this document.

Flu Immunisation 2023

The flu immunisation is being offered to all students in Years 7-11 for free this autumn/winter through Vaccination UK working on behalf of NHS England. Please ensure that you either provide or decline consent for the immunisation by completing this form here.

Rewards Days 2023 – Important Information

We are thrilled with our Rewards Days offerings this year, and confident that students are going to have a wonderful time whatever they’re doing! Please read the following information carefully, so you know what time your child is departing from and returning to the Academy, and to know what they should wear and pack.

Student Voice – SHAPE Survey 2023

We are encouraging all of our students to take part in the annual SHAPE survey, which gives all young people in Sandwell an opportunity to share their views with Sandwell Council. The survey can be accessed here.
