Celebrity Chef Paul Rankin Drops by to Give a Masterclass
Celebrity Chef, Paul Rankin (Ready Steady Cook, Great British Menu, Saturday Kitchen) dropped in to Q3 Academy to give students a culinary masterclass to help promote fresh, healthy eating on behalf of the Academy caterers, Sodexo. Not only did Paul teach the children, he then went on to prepare lunch and serve it for staff and students during lunch service.
Latest Development News for Q3 Academy Langley
The need for additional secondary school places in Sandwell has resulted in the opportunity for Q3 to expand its work to reach a larger number of students. The first building phase of the new Academy in Langley will be completed next year, allowing us to open in September 2016 with our first Year 7 intake. This is an exciting development for all stakeholders associated with Q3 Academy and will bring benefits to students and staff at both Q3 Academies, which we are determined will be centres of educational excellence in Sandwell.
Q3 General Election
Students at Q3 Academy will be getting involved with politics next week during the run up to the General Election. As well as a mock Downing Street set up in the Design Centre, students will be learning about each party and their manifestos throughout the week before finally having the chance to vote on Thursday 7th May at break and lunch time.
Q3 Bird Box has some new arrivals…
The Q3 Bird Box has been on site for over 12 months and has had the odd visitor, who we affectionately call “Bubo”, but over the last few weeks it has been populated with a nest and eggs! You can view the live webcam feed here.
Lewis Brings Home Another Bronze at Karate Competition
Another great result for Lewis Bradbury after winning a Bronze medal in the English Karate Federation (EKF) Nationals. He competed in the Junior male division Kumite. A great achievement for his first time at this level.
Q3 Students Compete at the National FL Spelling Bee
Four of our students (Amandeep Kaur, Amelia Priddey, Luke Gardner and Javaughn Mair) took on the rest of their year group to reach the regional finals of the National FL Spelling Bee, where they put their French language skills to the test in a nail-biting fourth round. They didn’t quite win against some fierce competition, but the Academy are extremely proud of their performance and have no doubt another Q3 Academy team will be back next year to take the title.
Success in the 1st round of the Sandwell Schools’ Association Cup
Last night, the Year 7 and Year 11 boys football teams went over to RSA Academy, it was the 1st round of the Sandwell Schools’ Association cup.
Important Information Regarding Holidays During Term Time
Are you thinking of taking your child out of school in term time? Legislation introduced in September 2013, means that Head Teachers can no longer authorise 10 days holiday during term time.
New Intake Evening 2015
Q3 Academy would like to invite all parents and carers of children who start their journey with the Academy in September to our New Intake evening on Wednesday 6th May. We anticipate the meeting to take approximately one hour, after which there will be an opportunity to ask questions and to meet members of the Q3 Team.
Sponsors’ Dinner 2015
Sixth Form students, staff and invited guests from Education and Business were treated to a live violin concert by Violinist Craig Owen just before the Easter Break, as part of the annual Sponsors Dinner. Students were given a once in a lifetime opportunity to network with CEOs from major organisations within the West Midlands and surrounding areas whilst enjoying a three course meal and a wonderful live concert.
