Former Dartmouth Students are on the road to Wembley
Adam and James Chambers of Walsall FC returned to their former school to reminisce before the run up to their big game this Sunday (22/3/2015). BBC Midlands Today (broadcast 19/3/2015) covered the twins as they met students and answered questions, as well as meeting with their former PE teacher, Mr Perrins, who is still working at the school which has now become Q3 Academy.
Q3 Students take part in Dragons’ Den at Aston Villa
As part of the Aston Villa Social Enterprise programme, some of our Year 10 students pitched an idea to 4 top judges, including Aston Villa first team player Libor Kozak, in a Dragons’ Den style event.
Q3 Students take part in ITV School Debate
A small group of Q3 Academy Sixth Form students were selected to take part in ITV’s Election 2015 School Debate on Tuesday 3rd March. It gave Daniel Devane, Elizabeth Robinson and Satvir Athwal an opportunity to discuss matters affecting young people today as part of ITV’s run up to the General Election on 7th May 2015.
Bronze for Lewis Bradbury from the Yorkshire Open Karate Championships
Another sporting achievement for Q3 Academy student Lewis Bradbury, who battled his way to be awarded the Bronze medal for his efforts at the Yorkshire Open Karate Championships. Under WKF rules the event itself was of a high standard and Lewis was able to compete against 16-17 year olds and hold his own. It was the first outing for him in this category since turning 16.
Q3’s Young Tycoons
A group of year 7 students have shown their entrepreneurial skills, as they set up their own small businesses. They started the process in September, by writing a detailed business plan for the attention of Peter Jones; he loved their ideas and offered them funds to help with the set-up costs.
Q3 Girls’ Football Team Celebrate Success
Staff and Students at Q3 Academy were celebrating on the final day of term as their girls football team smashed their way through to win the regional football tournament at Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.
Arts Charity Day Huge Success!
[list type=”bullet”]The Arts charity event has been months in the making, a big thank you to all the Staff and students that took part, it was a huge success. A variety of activities were undertaken including: a sponsored silence, selling a variety of items, sweets, cookies books, valentines cards and hot drinks.
Parent Support Sessions
Sessions have been held to support parents for our students in all year groups through a series of ‘Support your child at home’ workshops. The sessions have been delivered by the senior team and have aimed to give resources and techniques to aid the support of revision at home.
Q3 Teachers Learning Together
On Monday 26th January the Academy was closed for the day as we welcomed renowned teacher Jim Smith. He led a day’s training taking staff through his repertoire to encourage students to “learn more when you teach less,” in order that we empower our students to learn collaboratively, make decisions and solve problems.
