Important Academy Closure Notice

Over the weekend we have received notification of multiple COVID positive cases resulting in large numbers of students and staff needing to self-isolate. This means that we have now reached the point where we have insufficient staff to safely open and run the Academy. After careful consultation with the Local Authority and Public Health, and with the safety of the Academy community being our absolute priority, we have decided to close the Academy for one week.

We have been able to manage previous case numbers well. Thank you for your ongoing support and for the vigilance our students have shown in helping to keep the Academy a safe learning environment, which has allowed us to continue to operate for so long since our return in September. Knowing a further closure was always a possibility, our staff have been working tirelessly to prepare for this, and improve our online offering since the first, unexpected lockdown. We appreciate that some students will find this period challenging and require more support than others particularly in terms of their wellbeing and pastoral care. Our staff are continuing to work from home, and care relentlessly about all of our students. Please share any concerns with your child’s Personal Tutor who will be happy to support. 

We will review staffing capacity with the Local Authority and Public Health, and update you about future re-opening plans when possible. We anticipate that we will reopen to students on Monday 23rd November, with the exception of Year 11 who return on Monday 30th November for mock examinations.
