Whilst we’re very fortunate to have so few positive cases of COVID-19 lately, there has been a rise in the local area. Sandwell Public Health are encouraging the re-introduction of face masks, so we’re taking the precautionary measure of asking students to wear face masks (unless exempt) in communal areas of the Academy (when walking between lessons) from Thursday 24th June until further notice. Should cases increase then mask wearing may be extended to classrooms.
We appreciate the inconvenience of face masks, particularly at a time when we’re all trying so desperately to get back to a more familiar way of life. However, we will continue to follow the guidance from Sandwell Public Health, and endeavour to remove this restriction as soon we’re able.
It’s wonderful that students are so excited for the Rewards Days trip at the end of July, and it’ll be an excellent end to a challenging time. This minor imposition now will hopefully ensure that case numbers remain low, so that as many students as possible are able to enjoy these experiences.
