Q3 Academies Trust – International Travel Guidance and Information

As we approach the end of the academic year, it is important that the Academy communicates its position on international travel; this has a direct relevance to how families spend the summer break, for example. It is vital that the progress and attendance of children is at the centre, hand-in-hand with providing opportunities and safeguarding mental health. Therefore, when considering international travel, please consider the following:

  • Check government guidelines regarding international travel on a regular basis (at least weekly, and daily in the run up to any planned travel). As you will be aware, the traffic light system that is operated in relation to international travel, can change at very short notice, as the profile of COVID-19 changes in regions;
  • Adherence to all COVID-19 guidelines in the nation you visit is essential. Please research this before travel to ensure the safety of all travellers;
  • Quarantine periods may exist on arrival to and from international destinations. This cannot affect Academy attendance, and needs to be considered in your plans;
  • If students are affected by quarantine periods that impact on their attendance to the Academy, they must complete the mandated quarantine period before returning to site; if they come to the Academy, they will be sent home;
  • If the ‘Test-to-Release Scheme’ is made available to your child, the Academy must be informed which you can do so here; evidence must be provided before students return to the Academy;
  • We cannot sanction any travel during term-time for any reason – this decision sits with the Head of School;
  • It is recommended that any at-home testing programmes outlined by the government are followed by students as far as possible.

Please contact us here if you would like to receive more clarity on these points, or would like to raise any questions or queries.

I hope you have an enjoyable and well-deserved holiday period.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Andrew Martin
Chief Executive
