Adam and James Chambers of Walsall FC returned to their former school to reminisce before the run up to their big game this Sunday (22/3/2015). BBC Midlands Today (broadcast 19/3/2015) covered the twins as they met students and answered questions, as well as meeting with their former PE teacher, Mr Perrins, who is still working at the school which has now become Q3 Academy.
As part of the Aston Villa Social Enterprise programme, some of our Year 10 students pitched an idea to 4 top judges, including Aston Villa first team player Libor Kozak, in a Dragons’ Den style event.
A small group of Q3 Academy Sixth Form students were selected to take part in ITV’s Election 2015 School Debate on Tuesday 3rd March. It gave Daniel Devane, Elizabeth Robinson and Satvir Athwal an opportunity to discuss matters affecting young people today as part of ITV’s run up to the General Election on 7th May 2015.
We’re aware of the “Blue vs Red War” trend circulating online and want to reassure families, following on from our initial communication in our newsletter, that we are monitoring the situation closely and working with police.
We ask that users do not repost or engage with any social media posts inciting anti-social behaviour, but report the post through the platform’s reporting tools. Guidance in how to report this can be found on the Police.UK website.
We’re taking proactive steps to keep students safe, including revisiting online safety in Tutor Time and assemblies, offering targeted pastoral support, and increasing staff support on entry/exits to the Academy. We’re also strengthening our site security, with ongoing improvements to our main entrance and gated access points happening as we speak.
We will update parents and carers if any new information becomes available.
Thank you for your continued support and vigilance in helping keep our community safe!
