The other main teaching union, the NASUWT, has directed its members not to cover lessons of those teachers on strike. Regrettably this means that we are unable to open the Academy as normal. (Read more…)
All of our parents/carers have been sent a text message and email this morning to notify them that the Academy will be closed on Friday 10th March.
Students can access their learning from home through Google Classroom and additional online learning resources can be found on our Online Student Services page
Closing the Academy is always a last resort, so we can only apologise when the notification to close comes so late. We will always endeavour to open the Academy where possible. However, the ongoing weather conditions make it difficult to maintain the safety of students on the Academy site and impacts our staffing numbers as to provide appropriate supervision.
Take care and stay safe!
All of our parents/carers have been sent a text message and email this morning to notify them that the Academy will be closed on Thursday 9th March. We will continue to monitor the weather and reassess the Academy site on Friday 10th March; we’ll be in touch as soon as possible to advise if we are able to re-open.

Closing the Academy is always a last resort, so we can only apologise when the notification to close comes so late. We will always endeavour to open the Academy where possible. However, the weather forecast has quickly deteriorated which makes it difficult to maintain the safety of students on the Academy site and impacts our staffing numbers as to provide appropriate supervision.

We’re aware of the “Blue vs Red War” trend circulating online and want to reassure families, following on from our initial communication in our newsletter, that we are monitoring the situation closely and working with police.
We ask that users do not repost or engage with any social media posts inciting anti-social behaviour, but report the post through the platform’s reporting tools. Guidance in how to report this can be found on the Police.UK website.
We’re taking proactive steps to keep students safe, including revisiting online safety in Tutor Time and assemblies, offering targeted pastoral support, and increasing staff support on entry/exits to the Academy. We’re also strengthening our site security, with ongoing improvements to our main entrance and gated access points happening as we speak.
We will update parents and carers if any new information becomes available.
Thank you for your continued support and vigilance in helping keep our community safe!
