Q3 celebrates as Mr Stabler is named as English Schools Rugby League Midlands Teacher of the Year 2014/2015
After many years watching and playing Rugby in both codes; Mr Stabler took part in and qualified as a Rugby League coach in 2012.
After 2 years of pushing Rugby League as an after school activity across Years 7, 8 and 9; the team managed to win the Black Country Schools KS3 Championship in 2015.
Mr Stabler who is a Cover Supervisor at the Academy said:
“This is an incredible honour for me personally, but this award couldn’t be achieved without help from Mr Snell, Mr McCormack, the PE Department and without a doubt, all the boys in the Q3 Rugby League Club. The club itself is evolving all the time. This year we have outside coaching coming in from the Coventry Bears professional Rugby League club and the Sky Try initiative (http://www.skytry.org). We are branching out into Rugby Union in light of the current Rugby World Cup and we are about to enter our first tournaments shortly. The club is also securing funding to purchase a much needed new playing kit.”
Congratulations Mr Stabler
