Year 7 Mobile Phone Use

Following the letter sent before Easter regarding the use of mobile devices, students have been handing in their mobile devices during morning Tutor Time and having them returned during afternoon Tutor Time. I would like to start by thanking you for any encouragement with this matter and the students for their compliance. The majority of students have been following the new policy which is fantastic, and it helps us ensure the Academy remains a safe site.

As students become more accustomed to this process I believe this will become a normal part of their routine but it is imperative that all students follow this rule change. Therefore, I wanted to make you aware that if students are caught with a mobile phone after being given the opportunity to hand it in, then it will be confiscated and not available for collection until the following Friday. Additionally, they will receive a detention on Friday. We believe that both of these factors will act as a deterrent to ensure that all students comply with the rules, and to also emphasise how serious we are about the safety of our students.

Students do not need their mobile telephones in the Academy. In the event of an emergency, the Academy will contact you directly.

We appreciate your support in this matter.
