COVID-19 Update
We have been advised of a number of positive Year 10 COVID-19 cases this week. As safety is paramount, we have made the unfortunate decision to close the Academy to students in Year 10 from Thursday 1st July, and we are asking all students to self-isolate as a precautionary measure. This decision has been made with the support of the Local Authority. All Year 10 students must remain out of the Academy until their return date of Monday 12th July. The Year 10 end-of-term assessment schedule will be the same as originally shared, delayed by one week, and we encourage all students to continue working hard and revising for these tests. This term’s virtual work experience programme will also be rescheduled for a future time if possible.
COVID-19 Update
We have been advised that one of our students in Year 8 and two in Year 10 have tested positive for COVID-19. As a result we have asked a number of students to self-isolate as a precaution. You will have already been contacted by the Academy if your child is affected. The Academy will remain open for other students, and providing your child remains well they may attend as normal unless directed otherwise. Students working from home may access their home learning here.

COVID-19 Update
Whilst we’re very fortunate to have so few positive cases of COVID-19 lately, there has been a rise in the local area. Sandwell Public Health are encouraging the re-introduction of face masks, so we’re taking the precautionary measure of asking students to wear face masks (unless exempt) in communal areas of the Academy (when walking between lessons) from Thursday 24th June until further notice. Should cases increase then mask wearing may be extended to classrooms.

Changes to the Academy Day
As we slowly return closer to ‘normality’, we are delighted to be able to proceed to the next stage of easing restrictions, whilst maintaining government guidelines. This will apply when students return from the half-term break on Tuesday 8th June. Whilst face masks are no longer compulsory, students may continue to wear them if they feel more comfortable to do so. The following information will also be explained to students in detail during Tutor Time at the Academy tomorrow.
Proposed Merger between Q3 Academies and The Mercian Trust
Following the Stakeholder consultation period for the proposed merger between Q3 Academies Trust and The Mercian Trust, the Q3 Academies Trust Board have made the decision to vote to progress with a merger application to the Regional Schools Commissioner (RSC). We are pleased with the outcome of the Stakeholder consultation and would like to thank everybody who participated.
Year 13 – End of Term Arrangements
We would like to commend our Year 13 students for their exemplary attitude and work ethic throughout the past few weeks. It has been a busy and demanding time for students across the country, and we are proud of how well this Year Group has risen to the challenge and shown the best of themselves.
Emergency Unforeseen Closure Update
The Academy will be open as normal to all students and staff on Friday 21st May.
Emergency Unforeseen Closure to Students in Years 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12
The Academy has been made aware that part of the local sewer system has collapsed, and as such our toilets cannot be drained. This means that we are unfortunately unable to open safely to all students. We have very limited toilet access by means of Grace Payne Inspiration Centre, so only students in Years 11 and 13 may attend the Academy, and only for the duration of their scheduled formal assessments; they should only attend if they have a scheduled assessment on their exam timetable, and return home once completed.
