COVID-19 Lateral Flow Testing
You will have heard in the news that students returning to education will be offered lateral flow tests. We are awaiting delivery of the equipment and have been working hard over the holidays to plan carefully for this. There is now a ‘Testing’ tab on our dedicated Coronavirus page here which provides an overview of the process.
Return for Students in January
As you may be aware, the government has today announced that there will be a further staggered start to the new term in January. This is to try to reduce the transmission of the virus following the return of students after Christmas, and to allow us to implement additional measures to help keep everyone safe. These new guidelines mean that there will now be some year groups attending the Academy and other year groups learning from home.
Staggered Return for Students in January
The information in this post has since been updated, please see here for the most up-to-date return dates.
Sandwell MBC End of Term Message
I am writing to thank you for your support to the Academy this year. It has been the most difficult of times for everyone and has required the Academy and families to change plans frequently in response to COVID cases. This has not only been complex for the Academy to manage on a day to day basis, but will have often meant it unavoidably impacted on your own arrangements at short notice.

End of Term Message from our Chief Executive
We have made it to the end of term! Thank you for supporting us and bearing with us as we have had to adapt our academies both to keep your children safe, but also to provide learning whether in the Academy or remotely.
COVID-19 Update
We have been advised that there has been two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Year 9. As a result we have asked a number of students to self-isolate. We will contact you directly if your child is affected. The Academy will remain open for other students, and providing your child remains well they may attend as normal unless directed otherwise. Students working from home may access their home learning here.
Student Meals over the Christmas Break
We have received confirmation that supermarket vouchers will be made available over the Christmas holidays for students entitled to Free School Meals, these will be distributed by email. It is the responsibility of parents/carers to ensure that their email address remains up-to-date to ensure they are able to receive these. To see or change the email address that we have on file for you, please log in to the Insight ParentPortal.
End of Term Message from Mr Arnull
We are living through remarkable times and as we draw towards the end of the term, I would like to thank our students and staff for their fantastic commitment, teamwork, and energy. Also I wish to thank the parents/carers and members of the community for the outstanding support provided to the Academy. Everyone has really pulled together and I know you will all be looking forward to having a well-deserved rest and spending valuable time with loved ones. I’m certainly looking forward to our Academy Christmas lunch on Wednesday to start the festivities!
