COVID-19 Update

We have been advised that one of our Year 9 students has tested positive for COVID-19. As a result we have asked a number of students to self-isolate as a precaution. You will have already been contacted by the Academy if your child is affected. The Academy will remain open for other students, and providing your child remains well they may attend as normal unless directed otherwise. Students working from home may access their home learning here.

Summer Qlub – Year 6 Students joining us in September 2021

We are excited to announce the launch of a Summer Qlub, this is an optional activity for the new students who will be joining us in September. This activity is funded by the Academy and Department for Education. Summer Qlub is not part of our normal transition process for students, it is not compulsory nor is there the capacity for everyone to attend unfortunately. We’re offering this opportunity this year as a result of the impact of COVID-19 on some families. Think of it as a Summer Club that you might get at a leisure centre, only we’ll use the opportunity to get children accustomed to the Academy, our way of working, and support with literacy and numeracy. If your child is unable to attend because you have holidays booked or other plans, that’s no problem at all, and we hope that you enjoy whatever you’re doing; your child will not be disadvantaged by not attending. The dates of Summer Qlub are: Monday 2nd to Friday 6th August 2021; or, Monday 9th to Friday 13th August 2021. Children may only attend one of the two weeks, and there is limited availability, so places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. As the Academy receives government funding towards activities on a day-by-day attendance basis, if you sign your child up for Summer Qlub and they then fail to attend part or all of the sessions, you will be charged the cost of all activities and meals missed. Merger Consultation Meetings Reminder

We are now part-way through the consultation period for the proposed merger between Q3 Academies Trust and The Mercian Trust. Thank you to our parents/carers who have already taken part by submitting questions on the online portal. If you wish to take part in the consultation or would like to know further information, you can do so by accessing it here.

Leave of Absence Requests

With the government beginning to ease the lockdown measures, I would like to reiterate important information with regards to leave of absence requests during term time. All holidays should be arranged outside of term time to prevent any further impact on your child’s education. Please see here for term dates.

Vaccination UK Surveys

Vaccination UK Sandwell are in the process of catching up on vaccinations that were missed due to the COVID-19 closures, and resuming their scheduled service. They have requested feedback from students who have recently been vaccinated, and their parents/carers, to help monitor the quality of the service provided.

Year 7 Mobile Phone Use

Following the letter sent before Easter regarding the use of mobile devices, students have been handing in their mobile devices during morning Tutor Time and having them returned during afternoon Tutor Time. I would like to start by thanking you for any encouragement with this matter and the students for their compliance. The majority of students have been following the new policy which is fantastic, and it helps us ensure the Academy remains a safe site.

COVID-19 Update

We have been advised that one of our Year 10 students has tested positive for COVID-19. As a result we have asked a number of students to self-isolate as a precaution. You will have already been contacted by the Academy if your child is affected. The Academy will remain open for other students, and providing your child remains well they may attend as normal unless directed otherwise. Students working from home may access their home learning here.

Social Media and eSafety

We have been made aware of a number of national campaigns lately on social media that may cause offense or incite illegal activity. We always strongly encourage parents/carers to carefully monitor children’s online activity, and we’d ask that you report such offensive content to the social media platform, and ensure that your children do not share or promote such material.

Unforeseen Emergency Closure Update

We are pleased to share that the Academy water supply has been reinstated and is currently being tested. Therefore, we are able to welcome students back to the Academy tomorrow (Wednesday 21st April). Thank you for your understanding and support, and apologies again for the inconvenience.

A Message from our CEO

I hope that you managed some well-deserved and restful time off over the Easter break. I would like to thank all of you for the continued support you have given to each other, and to Q3 Academies, as we have settled back in to Academy life.
