We regret to inform you that Q3 Academy Great Barr will be closed on Friday 9 January 2026 due to the severe weather warnings currently in place.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this closure may cause. We have made this decision as early as possible based on the information that we currently have to minimise disruption as much as possible by giving you time to make arrangements for your child. While we always endeavour to remain open wherever possible, we can only do so when it is safe for our students, families, and staff. The safety and wellbeing of our community is of paramount importance.
In line with guidance from the Met Office advising against travel because of dangerous conditions, we are also aware of public transport cancellations and challenges affecting both students and staff. Additionally, the closure of other educational settings has already had a wider impact on childcare arrangements for many of our families and colleagues, which we have carefully taken into consideration when assessing if we would be able to open safely.
Where possible, students are encouraged to continue their learning by completing work on Sparx Reader, Sparx Maths, and Sparx Science and assignments on Microsoft Teams.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. Students should return at the normal time of 8:45am on Monday 12th January 2026 unless we notify you otherwise.
